FAQ
Why should I hire a Makeup Artist?
When you hire a professional makeup artist, you're not just paying to get your makeup done. You’re paying for experience, education, knowledge of products and skincare. It's my job as a Professional Makeup Artist to enhance your natural beauty as well as staying on time, applying the right products to ensure longevity, and of course making sure your day is stress free!
Booking a Professional Makeup Artist is one of the best investments you can make for your wedding day. I come to you at your desired location, I make a schedule ahead of time so we know who goes when, and I understand how lighting works (indoor and outdoor, as well as professional photography).
What is required to book?
To secure your date in my calendar, a 50% retainer of the total service cost and signed contract are required. Since I run on a first come first serve basis, I do not hold dates without them. The retainer goes towards the final payment.
How long does it take to get my makeup done?
For weddings, I allot 45 minutes for bridal party members. And for the bride I set aside 1 hr and 15 minutes (can be longer if time permits).
Bridal makeup typically takes longer because, I want to take as much time as I can to perfect it! There will always be some distractions on the big day, like phone calls, questions from your group, and more. This is also usually the time when your photographer/videographer come in to do your getting ready shots.
At the end of my time with you, I always make sure to book 15 minutes for touch ups before I pack up and leave.
For all other services, such as, boudoir, special occasion, senior makeup, I do require 1 hr for makeup.
I have extremely sensitive skin/allergies. How can I make sure I don’t get a reaction?
I always recommend discussing this with me before your trial/preview. I want to make sure my kit is ready to go to accommodate you. This goes for your wedding party too. I want to know everything up front when you sign your contract.
I don’t want a full face of makeup. Can I just get my eyes and lips done?
I exclusively offer full face services. This will help achieve a cohesive makeup look! Now, a full face doesn't have to mean full glam and a lot of makeup! I customize each and every makeup application to the clients comfortability, skin type, and so on.
When should I book my makeup artist for my wedding?
Honestly… as soon as you get your venue booked. Most makeup artist book anywhere between March-October (peak wedding season in the Midwest). Including myself, makeup artists are booking 1-2 years in advance on a first come first serve basis.
Can I just book a trial/preview before committing?
Absolutely! I actually suggest this! You tried on your dress, why not "try on" the look as well. This is our time for me to learn your skin, what colors and products look/work best, and for us to see how the look wears (think longevity). Now we know how the look wears, and I can make any necessary adjustments for the big day!
Just know that your date isn't secured without a retainer and sign contract.
How far out should I book my trial?
I recommend having a trial within 1-2 months of your wedding for a couple of reasons:
1. When you book me as your Bridal Makeup Artist, we discuss your skincare routine. So having your trial within 1-2 months of the wedding ensures that you will be using the proper skin prep and the results will be similar to your day of look.
2. Your style may change. If you have your trial too far in advance, you may want to change your look based on new personal preferences.
3. My products and skills will be very similar to the day of, since I'm always looking to improve my skills and the products in my kit.
Can you accommodate large bridal parties?
I sure can! I will take care of everything, and that includes bringing additional artists to complete the job. Please do note though, that I do require an additional artists fee. Think of this as their retainer to secure your big day in their calendar too.
What if I don't have a bridal party?
Bride only weddings are some of my favorite, because now I have even more time to pamper you.
I do require a Bride +2 services for the wedding day, so if it is only the Bride getting her makeup done, then I'll add in 2hrs of touch up time. This is perfect for the Bride doing a first look, the Bride that gets extra emotional, or the Bride getting married in the hotter/cooler months. That way, I can ensure that you're picture perfect for your ceramony.
Do you only offer Bridal makeup?
No not at all. I also do makeup for Boudoir, Engagement, Senior photos, Maternity, Headshots and Branding, and so much more. I also offer 1:1 lessons too!
Tell me more about lessons..
So lessons are the best! We discuss skincare, makeup, go over application, and anything else you want to discuss! I will guide you every single step of the way. I also like to make suggestions of brushes and products I think would help you out. We can even go shopping together, and I’ll help you pick out all your new products.
I suggest a 2hr lesson always, we go over A LOT and you'll take a bunch of notes. We can even go shopping too, that way I can make sure you have the right products for you!
